Blues Top 5,000gns at Carlisle

The Reserve Male & Reserve Supreme Champion Whitestone Jackpot topped at 5,000gns at the Border British Blue Clubs’ Annual Autumn Show & Sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 2nd October 2015.

Purchasers have been very selective across all breeds, during this autumn’s bull sales. However, British Blue bulls averaged a very respectable £3,864.

Judge for the day, Rab Paterson, Auchenlay Herd, Dunblane put up as his Male & Supreme Champion, Stonebyres Imp, a November 2013 son of Boothlow Dynamo, out of a Ballygrange Alex daughter, Stonebyres Fifi ET bred and exhibited by Blair & Shona Comrie, Stonebyres Mains, Lanark. Imp is a Superior Carcase Sire and was knocked down for 4,200gns to TW & J Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan, Dumfriesshire. Blair & Shona also win the Border British Blue Club Trophy for the highest price animal owned by a member of the Border Club.

The Reserve Male & Reserve Supreme Champion ticket went to Whitestone Jackpot, a February 2014 son of Tweeddale Ebony (SR) ET out of Three Ways Freya ET, bred and exhibited by GA & EJ Davies, Brynawel, Llandysul, Ceredigion. JA Wood & Sons, Kinnerton Hall Farm, Shrewsbury, Shropshire was the successful purchaser at the top price of 5,000gns.

The Female Championship & Wilodge Perpetual Shield for the Best Animal Opposite Sex to the Champion was awarded to a March 2014 heifer, Newroddige Jemima ET, out of a Mountjoy Utopia and Tamhorn Foxtail Lily ET flush, bred and exhibited by Mallaber & Wyllie, Pessall Farm, Edingale, Nr. Tamworth, Staffs. She was knocked down for 3,800gns to SJ Balfour, Fodderletter, Timintoul.
