North West Club members enjoy a spectacular three months of success

 

North West club members enjoyed their start of the 2010 show and sale season with sparkling success at all venues.

Carlisle May 2010

Eleven club members presented cattle for sale and had 28 animals forward into the sale ring.

Derek and Maureen Gregory had their 23 months old bull Gregmaur Durkan awarded the Supreme, Male and Intermediate Male Championships. This Raciste Du Pachis A La Motte son out of homebred Gregmaur Nula, a Hazelwood Freshman daughter then went on to sell for 4,000gns. A further two Gregmaur bulls, both Gib Van Het Negenbond sons, Drummond and Dooley, out of Gregmaur Tyler and Gregmaur Namara respectively sold for 4,500gns each.

Danny Wyllie sold four bulls, three of them selling for over 7,000gns. Two years old Tamhorn Dynamite, out of Tamhorn Winifred a Baron Du Bois Bauloye daughter, edged out his more illustrious show-winning father, to take the top price for the North West contingent selling for 13,000gns. His celebrated sire, Ballygrange Alex was awarded the Senior Male Championship and went on to sell for 10,000gns. Not far behind these two came 18 months old Tamhorn Diplomat, another Alex son this time out of Tamhorn Wee Daisy, selling for 7,800gns.

The top two for Graham Brindley were Bringlee Derry, a two years old Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur son out of Bringlee Tandy a daughter of the renowned Bringlee Sandy, who sold for 10,000gns. Following him came 20 months old Bringlee Dr Doolittle awarded the Junior Male and Reserve Male and Reserve Overall Championship. Dr Doolittle, sired by Gamin Des 3 Frontieres and also out of Bringlee Tandy, sold for 5,500gns.

Keith and Janet Belfield brought forward two bulls; taking top spot for them was Boothlow Dynamo a 17 months old son of Hazelwood Freshman out of Boothlow Amanda a Tamhorn Sumo daughter, who sold for 8,000gns.

Of the four bulls forward from Adam Neachell, Cromwell Earl a 17 months old son of Solway View Antonio out of Ridge Dean Rita, claimed top for the herd with the award of Reserve Male Champion and selling for 6,000gns.

Elaine and Mark Hartley sold Pendle DJ, a two years old son of Blue Stone Union Jack out of Pendle Whizzy, for 6,000gns.

Philip Halhead also achieved 6,000gns for two years old Parsonage Desperate Dan, a Fanion Du Ronchy son out of Parsonage Ashcroft Lady.

Ian and Andrew Wilson made one of their few trips north selling New Close Dominator a 25 months old son of Eternel de Dieu Seul out of Bringlee Vandy, another Bringlee Sandy daughter, for 6,000gns.

Graham Coates had two bulls and two heifers forward and top of his list was Greystone Daytona a 17 months old son of Greystone Warrior out of Greystone Wilma selling for 5,000gns.

Allan and Deirdre Wilkinson offered Springfield Dennis, a 21 months old son of President Des 1000 Fontaines out of Woodview Universe, and sold him for 2,200gns

Huw Roberts brought along a bull and two heifers and top of his list was Denby Dixie, a 21 months old son of Empire D’Ochain out of Ridge Dean Unmistakable, selling for 2,500gns

Chelford July 2010

The change of date from autumn to summer made little difference to the cattle brought forward from the North West Club members.

For the second Chelford sale in succession Ian and Andrew Wilson took the championship this time with New Close Duncan an eighteen months old son of Empire D’Ochain out of Hazelwood Freshman. Duncan was sold next day for 3,850gns.

Taking the top sale spot was Jim Barber with his herd reduction cattle. Three years old Glenavy Connie, a Springhill Uhu daughter out of Knockagh Upstart, with her five months old Colos Van Daisel heifer calf Astbury Flo a foot, saw spirited bidding and was knocked down at 5,000gns. Two further lots made 4,500gns, Astbury Duchess, a two years old daughter of Cristal De Somme out of Astbury Willow and Astbury Emerald a 6 months old daughter of Bringlee Blackstar out of Annanwater Chantel. Another notable lot was a four months old bull calf Astbury Firecracker sired by Dartagan Du Castillion and also out of Annanwater Chantel, selling at the foot of his recipient dam for 2,550gns.

Jane & Danny Wyllie offered 9 months old Ballygrange Alex daughter Tamhorn Enchanted out of Tamhorn Billyjean who sold for 3,800gns.

On the Show Circuit

Whilst Boomer Birch is gathering many plaudits for his show team that includes Boomer Euphoria and Sheila Mason’s Boomer DKNY many other North West Club members are also enjoying a brilliant start to the showing season.

At Stafford County Show, judged by John Hall, Boomer DKNY took the Supreme Breed Championship and went on to take the Interbreed Championship. Ian and Andrew Wilson’s New Close Entertainer was awarded the Breed Reserve Male Championship and Tim Mountford’s Anemone De Cras Avernas took second place in the Senior Female Class. The combination of Boomer DKNY, Boomer Euphoria and Bringlee Desiree were awarded the Group of Three Interbreed Championship.

The ‘Blues’ at the Cheshire Show were judged by Brian Wheatley who expressed his visit as a very enjoyable experience with the quality of cattle on show a joy to have in front of him. Boomer Euphoria made a clean sweep of the top rosettes when she took the Junior and Supreme Breed Championship on the first day and the Junior Interbreed and Overall Interbreed Beef Championship, judged by Andy Ryder, on the second day. Anemone De Cras Avernas took the first prize for Tim Mountford in the Senior Female Class and went on to become the Reserve Overall Breed Champion. Matthew Jones’s heifer Henlli Cleopatra won the Intermediate Heifer class. The team of Boomer Euphoria, Henlli Cleopatra, with Ian and Andrew Wilson’s New Close Delilah and New Close Daphne joined forces and were judged the Reserve Interbreed team of four.

The Newport Show, judged by Kevin Watret, once again saw Boomer Euphoria take the Breed Championship with Matthew Jones’s Graymar Emerald standing Reserve Breed Champion. Jamie Taylor took the first place in the heifer class with Hawthorne Dotty Com. The Heifer in calf or with calf at foot class was won by Matthew Jones’s Henlli Cleopatra and Philip and Louise Brindley’s Blue Mist Blossom with her bull calf Blue Mist Eden won the class for the Cow with calf at foot. The Bull, any age class saw Ian and Andrew Wilson’s bull New Close Emperor in first place with the Brindley’s Blue Mist Eclipse standing second. In the Pairs class the New Close team of Daphne and Delilah took the first prize and then went on to become the Interbreed Pairs Champions. Boomer Euphoria took the Reserve Interbreed Championship.

At the Great Yorkshire Show Gavin Boocock’s bull Edmonds Barney was awarded the Breed Male Championship.
