Record Blues at Lampeter Show
|
The cattle ranged from calves under 12 months to cows of four years and there were classes to cover all ages. An unprecedented five herds put out teams in the Group of Three competition, with six pairs competing in their class. We were also pleased to have with us Lukeroyal Bimbo, the Supreme British Blue at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.
The Wales and Borders British Blue Club sponsored a new class: Under 12 month old heifers. Many breeders brought their young cattle and the under 12 month classes proved to be so successful that a special calf competition was arranged on the day.
The cattle present were all of a very high standard and gave judge
Nigel Pritchard a difficult afternoon’s work. He was particularly
complimentary about the younger cattle on show.
In alphabetical order the herds competing were: Beili, Betws, Cwm,
Dragon Blues, Lone Tree, Lucky Blues, Penrhyn, Rhiwonnen Blues and
Willnant.
Very welcome on the hot afternoon was the refreshments area provided
by the club and passers by were drawn to our eye catching display boards.
We would particularly like to thank Mr Aeron Hughes, the Chairman of
Lampeter Agricultural Show committee for arranging a special “line” for
the Blues and allowing us to sponsor the very well received new class.
We hope we may be involved with Lampeter Show for many years to come.
