Eleventh Annual Open Belgian Blue Primestock Show & Sale 2006

On Monday 1st May 2006 the Border Belgian Blue Club held their Eleventh Annual Open Primestock show and sale, which was kindly sponsored by Macmin Limted, Animal Feed Supplements of Stirling, Scotland, Rickerby, Borderway Insurance Brokers & J Stobart & Sons Ltd, Newlands Quality Farm Foods.

The sale was held in conjunction with the weekly primestock sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, when they had 15 head entered, comprising 4 young bulls, 3 steers and 8 heifers.

Champion

Mr Gavin Little, Willow Springs, Great Salkeld carried out the judging. He awarded the Championship to a heifer (585 kilos), shown by JS & JO Dodd, West View, Temple Sowerby, Penrith which later changed hands at 190p (£1,111.50) to J G Little (Butcher) (Judge), Willow Springs, Great Salkeld, Penrith. The reserve championship went to a heifer (600 kilos) shown by Mr K D Harryman, Keskadale, Newlands Valley, Keswick. She was purchased by Donald Nattrass (Butcher) 57/58 The Market, Carlisle for 146.5p (£879).

3rd J W Brown, Midtown, Kirkbampton, Carlisle 620kg - 124.5p (£771.90) to Black Brow Abbatoir Ltd, Black Brow, Aikton, Wigton.
