British Blue Cross Heifer takes Supreme Championship at Wigton

Hopes Auction Company, Wigton held their Christmas Show & Sale of Primestock on Saturday 3rd December 2016. This prestigious event is well renowned to be one of the best shows of Livestock anywhere in the UK and this year was no exception with the quality superb.
Judging the Cattle was Mr Anthony Gornall, Preston who congratulated vendors on the tremendous entry before him. After some deliberation Anthony chose a British Blue Heifer from Mr I Grainger, Kiln Close, Glasson as his Champion. This fantastic Heifer weighing 676kg later sold for the days top price of 500ppk or £3380 purchased by Messrs Powley. Reserve honours went to Messrs Dent, Elm House, Appleby with their second prized British Blue Heifer which sold for 250p or £1735 to KA Brown & Sons. Both these British Blue Heifers were bred by Messrs. Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby and purchased out of Kirkby Stephen Suckled Calf Sale.
