Superb Trade for British Blue's at Kirkby Stephen

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual prize show and sale of Suckled Calves on Monday 30th October 2017.
Taking the Stan Davis Silver Cup and topping the sale at £2350 was the overall champion calf which was a 10 month old British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Brown, Asby Hall, Great Asby which was bought by Messrs Allen, Malton. The pre sale show was kindly judged by Mr Michael Everatt of Goole.
The overall reserve championship was taken by the first place British Blue cross and champion steer which was a 7 month old calf also consigned by Messrs Brown, Asby Hall and sold for £1150 to Messrs Smith, Carnforth.
Trade for good quality well forward suckled calves was strong with plenty of buyers looking for these types of calves; over 50 active buyers were present.
Steers averaged £855.70 (up £30.51 on the year)
Heifers averaged £836.28 (down £22.94 on the year)
The show was kindly sponsored by JG Animal Health, Dugdale Nutrition, North West Limousin Cattle Breeder Association and The British Blue Cattle Society.
