British Blue Sired Dairy Calves – Champion & Reserve
21st May 2018
On Wednesday 16th May 2018 Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their Annual Spring show and sale of young calves at Carlisle. A larger entry of 316 were forward which also included the Spring Show for calves under 12 weeks of age. The Champion was a tremendous British Blue heifer out of a Montbelairde cow from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Sunderland, Cockermouth which went on to sell at £610. The Reserve Champion was from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Dumfries which was the first placed continental bull this also was a British Blue and sold for £475. We would like to thank Mr Gordon McGregor for judging the Show and for Genus for sponsoring the classes. Both the Champion and Reserve Champion was sired by the Genus bull Moorsley Anderson,
Top price of the day was £650 for an older British Blue heifer again from Messrs Johnstone, Westray. The best quality reared calves continue to be great to sell. However younger calves would be slightly easier on the week. Black and whites continue to be in great demand with weaned calves especially good to sell.
