Greenvale Sponsors British Blue Heifer Derby
The Northern Ireland Blue Cattle Club held the final of British Blue Heifer Derby at Antrim Agricultural Show. This year the competition was open to British Blue heifers born between 1st July 2011 and 30th June 2012 with qualifying taking place at various regional shows throughout Northern Ireland.
The judge Trevor Ashmore of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford was greatly impressed with all the heifers on parade. These superb animals, chosen throughout the show season were of outstanding quality from the British Blue Breed. After close scrutiny, the champion was a fabulous white heifer, Faughanvale Holly owned by Oliver McGuiness from Eglinton. This February 2012 heifer was sired by Romancier de Charlevaux with dam Lukeroyal Super Model Girl. His first reserve choice was another spectacular animal, Lukeroyal Gorgeous, an August 2011 black and white heifer sired by Jalon de Martinpre with dam Lukeroyal Confetti and owned by Jim Ervine from Newtownabbey. Second reserve went to Bavan Glamor Girl a November 2011 mostly black heifer sired by Dafydd D’Ochain with dam Omorga Whitney owned by Trevor Dodds from Mayobridge.
