A buoyant trade for North West Club members at Carlisle
The North West Club members fortunate enough to have been able to have
their cattle accommodated outside of the restricted zones since before
the end of the vector free period along with members who do not have
any trading restrictions enjoyed an outstanding trade at the Border’s
Club Show and Sale on the 16th & 17th May 2008.
Leading the way on show day was the Pendle herd of Mark & Elaine
Hartley with 3 first placings with their bulls and Pendle Bulldozer going
forward to take the reserve Intermediate Bull ticket. In the female classes
Pendle Cauldron achieved a 2nd place in her Junior Maiden Heifer class.
Graham Brindley brought forward an impressive run of Bringlee Sandy’s
progeny with Bringlee Bouncer, by Baron Du Bois Bauloye, taking a first
in his class and going on to take Reserve Senior Male. Bringlee Cajoleur,
by Cajoleur De Rettigny, was placed first in his class with Bringlee
Baxter another Baron son this time out of a Sandy daughter, Bringlee
Vandy, taking a second in his class.
The Springfield herd of Allan & Deirdre Wilkinson brought along a
run of females with Springfield Bianca by Eclatant De La Sucrerie taking
a third place in the Served Heifer class and Springfield Crystal by Dafydd
D’Ochain taking fourth place in the Junior Maiden Heifer class.
Their bought in cow Woodview Universe, an As De Trefle Du Vanova daughter,
took the first ticket in her class.
Geoff Walker’s Brennand Bronco, an Eclatant De La Sucrerie son,
took second place to the bull who went on to become Intermediate Champion
and then Reserve Supreme Champion.
The next day the sale ring was packed with buyers and the Bringlee Herd
led the way for the North West.
Graham Brindley’s aforementioned Bringlee Cajoleur sold for 11,000gns,
one of four bulls to break the 10,000gns barrier. Two Baron Du Bois Bauloye
sons Bringlee Bouncer and Bringlee Baxter achieved 9,000gns and 4,500gns
respectively. Bringlee Cosmo by Colibri Du Coin out of Bringlee Vandy
reached 5,200gns.

Mark & Elaine Hartley’s Pendle Bulldozer a Dafydd D’Ochain
son out of Pendle Wave sold for 8,500gns. Blue Stone Union Jack progeny
were also up amongst the top prices. Pendle Bruce, out of Pendle Ula,
sold for 7,500gns, Pendle Black Jack, out of Pendle Rose, sold for 6,000gns,
Pendle Cauldron, out of Pendle Robinea, Pendle Cocopop out of Bannister
Tatum and Pendle Chattocks out of Pendle Witch sold for 4,100gns, 3,200gns
and 3,100gns respectively.
Inbetween escorting their cattle to and from the ring Mark & Elaine
managed to find time to enter the frenetic bidding and secure Greystone
Bonzer as their new stock bull paying 18,000gns which was the highest
price of the day.

Leading the way for Allan & Deirdre Wilkinson’s Springfield
herd, Springfield Wilma, by Eclatant De La Sucrerie out of Springfield
Pepsi with her Mountjoy Utopia heifer calf Springfield Dee Dee at foot
sold for 4,100gns. Springfield Bianca also an Eclatant – Pepsi
daughter was guaranteed in calf but was withdrawn from the ring at 1,700gns
not having reached Allan & Deirdre’s valuation of her as was
the young Felicien Du Courriaulx sired bull Springfield Conrad at 2,800gns.
Woodview Universe and her daughter Springfield Crystal by Dafydd D’Ochain
sold for 3,600gns and 3,800gns respectively. A further Dafydd daughter,
Springfield Carmen out of Springfield April and Springfield Caroline
an As De Trefle Du Vanova daughter sold for 2,400gns and 2,500gns.

Adam Neachell secured the purchase of Nether Hall Clever Girl a Bringlee
Volkawagon daughter out of Zwierig Et Vd Wildebeek for 8,500gns and also

Prior to the sale Jim Barber paid a short tribute to David Dickinson
and voiced the opinions of many when he expressed how much we would all
miss him. During the sale a young Auctioneer was introduced.
He took up the gavel and very successfully sold quite a number of the
cattle to well engaged buyers. Another H&H star is born!
