The ring at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 24th January 2014 was
packed with an electric atmosphere, for the small, but very select
sale of British Blue cattle. The Judge, Andrew Price from the Bedgebury Herd, Maidstone, Kent,
put up as his Female Champion and Overall Supreme Champion, Solway
View Haribo ET, out of Solway View Elegance, by the renowned Solway
View Dynamite, being knocked down for 10,000gns, to new breeder, Ian
Sinclair, Clyth Mains, Lybster, Caithness. Haribo being a very shapely,
November 2012 heifer, being in the top 10% of the breed for 400-day
weight growth. The Supreme Champion rosette and sash being presented by Society President
Gill Evans from the Seifion Herd. The Reserve Supreme and Champion Male going to Graham Morgan’s,
Almeley Hi Tech, a March 2012 bull, out of Park U Orthodox and by his
renowned stock bull, Drybarrows Cawdale, being subsequently knocked
down for 6,200gns, to Messrs. Beckwith, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. A
bull in the top 10% of the breed for Calving Ease and above breed average
for 400-day weight EBV’s and in the top 20% for Carcase Profitability
Index. The Reserve Male Championship going to Newton Blues Geordie out of
the Malcolm Telfer and Helen Claxton stable. A December 2011 bull,
out of Newton Blues Candice, by Empire D’Ochain, finding a new
home with D C Rees & Sons, Pencrug Farm, Brecon, Powys, for 5,200gns. The Reserve Female Championship going to Cowden Champagne, a January
2007 cow, out of Ridge Dean Vision, by Baroque De L’ Ecluse,
finding a home at 1,800gns, with EC Haste & Sons, Beaworthy, Devon. Cromwell Harrison, from AE Neachell & Son, out of Bringlee Welancee,
by Bringlee Carlos won its class. A January 2012 bull finding a new
home with RD Atkinson, Goole, North Humberside, for 4,000gns.
