Very Positive Interest for British Blues at Welshpool
There was very positive interest for both bulls and females, at the inaugural sale of British Blue pedigree cattle, at Welshpool Mart on Saturday 22nd November 2014.
The sale was held jointly, between Harrison & Hetherington, Carlisle and Welshpool Livestock Sales.
An impressive parade of animals forward took place instead of a show.
Two bulls topped the market at 4,200gns, the first being Dinmore Istanbull, from Paul Dawes, Dinmore Manor Estate, Hereford. A son of Paulern Declan ET and out of Paulern Fancy, Istanbull being at the very top of the breed for 400-day growth and carcase profitability index and found a new home DH Tilsley, Minsterley, Shropshire.
The second, coming from the Wyn Jones stable at Oswestry, being Tanat Intrepid ET. Again, a bull in the top 95% of the breed for 400-day weight and the top 25% for carcase profitability index. A son of Drift Domino and out of Greystone Bertha, finding a home with E Evans, Talybont, Dyfed.
Cierian Jones from Lampeter, selling Rhiwonnen Blues IOU ET for 3,000gns again to DH Tilsley, Minsterley, Shropshire. A son of Imperial De L’Ecluse and out of Bringlee Desiree ET, a grandson of the infamous Bringlee Sandy.
Tanat Iceman, again from Wyn Jones, making 2,900gns finding a new home with DW Lewis & Son, Llandrindod Wells. A son of Bringlee Ecstasy out of Whiterock Diamond being in the top 20% of the breed for scrotal size and intramuscular fat.
A recipient with Cromwell Jonty ET at foot, from Adam Neachell, Aldridge, Staffordshire, making 2,400 gns. Jonty being a daughter of Solway View Firecracker out of Berenice De Bierwa, a Belgian heifer.
Auctioneer, David Thomlinson commented, “There was keen interest in all lots forward, with purchasers prepared to pay for good quality animals.”
