Jalex Hit Jackpot At Summer Spectacular
Friday August 24th 2012
James Alexander was celebrating success after his lightweight heifer "Miss
Steak" brought home the silverware at the NI Commercial Cattle
Exhibitors 8th Annual "Summer Spectacular" event which was
staged at Balmoral Show Grounds.
This is without doubt the biggest accolade to date for the Jalex team
of commercials, which have been enjoying a tremendous season notching
up a number of awards. Their Supreme Champion weighed in at 355 kilos,
and laid claim to top placings in the lightweight heifer class, British
Blue Championship and the Heifer Championship under two different judges.
Heathview Cooper sired this winning heifer who is a maternal sister
to the 2011 male champion "Dirty Bit".
Reserve British Blue Champion was a super youngster from Chris Johnston,
Fivemiletown. "Ibiza Blue" was bred by exhibitor and sired
by the mighty Black N Blue Diesel.

Leading the way in the calf
section was Mark Doyle, Kilkeel who enjoyed his best outing to
date securing the Calf Championship with his British Blue sired
heifer "Tulisa".
Mark runs just 20 cows with the aim of producing high quality calves
for the show and sales circuit, and this youngster is an exciting
prospect for the Autumn. |
