Great Yorkshire Show 2025

A strong showcase of British Blues took centre stage at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, where judge Graham Morgan commended the standard of cattle on parade across a range of well-supported classes.
Stonebyres Treacle - Champion British Blue
Taking the top honour of Overall Champion was Stonebyres Treacle, a smart 2023-born heifer from New York Farms. Turned out by the Mountain family themselves, she is by Stonebyres Ninja and out of Stonebyres Monalisa. Feminine, correct, and full of breed character, she impressed all round and went on to secure both Female Champion and the Overall Championship.
Top Side Realun - Reserve Champion
Reserve Overall Champion went to Topside Realun, a 2021-born cow from Ross and Elaine Pattinson. Another homebred entry, she is by Naby Gold and out of Topside Isla, and took the Reserve Female Champion title earlier in the day following her class win.
Making Place UB40 - Male Champion
In the male section, S Crowther claimed Overall Male and Junior Champion with the 2024-born Making Place UB40, a stylish and balanced young bull.
Hallfield Umanga - Reserve Male Champion
S Gill’s Hallfield Umanga stood Reserve Male behind Making Place.
Teesview Ureeka - Reserve Junior Champion
Among the juniors, Teesview Ureeka from E Carvey stood out in the 2024-born heifer class and later took Reserve Junior Champion.
Elsewhere, consistent results across the groups and pairs further underlined the strength of the entries from R Pattinson, P Brannen, and M Hartley.
And while the cattle may have been the stars of the show, the spirit of the breed was just as evident at ringside, with the Hartley family’s annual barbecue once again drawing a crowd and plenty of laughter long after judging had concluded. Special thanks go to the Crowther family for providing the excellent beef burgers.
The quality on display at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show reinforced the depth and strength of the British Blue breed, with exhibitors showcasing cattle which combine power, correctness and commercial appeal.
