SOLWAY VIEW TAMSIN TOPS BRITRISH BLUES AT ROYAL HIGHLAND
There was a strong turnout of British Blue cattle on display at the 2025 Royal Highland Show, where judge Geraint Williams, Lampeter cast a keen and knowledgeable eye over a fine selection of top-quality entries across all sections. Exhibitors brought forward an exceptional line-up, showcasing the breed’s renowned muscle development, correctness, and style.
Solway View Tamsin - Female and Overall British Blue Champion
Geraint tapped out Kevin Watret’s April 2023 born, Solway View Tamsin as the overall breed champion. Earlier Tamsin, an AI daughter of the Irish sire Boherad Overdose, and one of the first ET calves out of Solway View Peach, had claimed the best female British Blue. She boasts an illustrious show career which started at the Stars of the Future back in 2023 where she was reserve junior champion. The powerful and eye-catching Solway View Tamsin impressed the judge with her depth and style to win the female born on or between 1 Jan and 31 December 2023 class, and he described her as, “a standout female who impressed throughout the day with her presence, balance, and true British Blue character”.
Just pipped to the post in the same class was Ruaig Tinkerbell, sired by Bluebell Conor bred from Stonebyres Maya from A & I MacInnes, while the third prize winner in this extremely strong class from the Coul Estate Partnership was the Solway View Odin sired, Coul Blue Trick or Treat who won the junior female champion tri-coloured sash and reserve overall junior whilst standing as reserve junior female champion was fourth prize Solway View Taffy.

Ellglen Olympia - Reserve Female and Reserve Overall British Blue Champion
The ever-impressive homebred Ellglen Olympia from Ellen Elliot claimed the red ticket in female born on or before 31st December 2022 class. Bred from Auchanlay Kerry and sired by Attribut Du Fond De Bois, she combined show presence with sound structure and followed the overall champion Solway View Tamsin all the way to take the overall reserve female champion rosette and then the reserve overall breed championship title.
Topping a competitive female class born between 1st January and 30th April 2024, was Coul Estates’ Coul Blue Uptown Girl, a classy young heifer displaying excellent locomotion and breed character. Close behind in second was G&G Scott’s Thistle Ultra Cool, showing natural width and strength. Third went to her stablemate Thistle Unbelievable, another quality entry.
In the female born after the 1 May 2024 section, a sweet and correct heifer from Kevin Watret, Solway View Upeach, claimed top spot for her balance and femininity. The Greens followed up with two well-fleshed entries, Oxcroft Una and Oxcroft Ucha, placed second and third respectively.
Auchenlay Upbeat - Champion Bull
In the male classes the strong and correct Auchenlay Upbeat from R&M Patterson came out on top in the bull born between 1st January and 30th April 2024 and went on wear the best junior bull rosette whilst the blue rosette and reserve junior bull accolades were bestowed on Stonebyres Utah from A&CS Comrie, standing third in that class was Nikay Ultra from Nick & Kayley Gill.

The Society extends congratulations to all exhibitors for presenting such high-quality cattle and thanks Judge Geraint Williams for his considered decisions throughout the day. The 2025 Royal Highland Show proved once again the strength and quality within the British Blue breed.
